Description
Verdejo grapes from Rueda are harvested from premium vineyards located in Nava del Rey (Valladolid) with 3% Sauvignon Blanc blended in.
Owned by friends of Martin Berdugo, the 100ha of vineyards planted between 1990 and 2006 are 14km south of the river Duero at a height of 750m. Gravelly brown soils are rich in calcium and magnesium; stony but easy to work.
Martin Berdugo are a modern, progressive, family company; easily witnessed by the contemporary architecture of the winery and their stylish labels. Less obvious though is their constant evolving and experimentation with the wine making. Martin Berdugo seek improvement at every harvest and have a passion to bring what they call an “element of difference” to those who share their taste and wine philosophy: one of style, flair, communication, discovery and “the creation of unforgettable moments”.
Rich, lush aromas of ripe tropical fruit with hints of thyme and gooseberry; a very refreshing palate where a crispness balances the weighty mouthfeel giving a long finish where tropical fruits again dominate.
Refreshing as an aperitif or with crisp green salads; steamed mussels, seafood and baked fish dishes; saffron rice and young cheeses.
