Description
100% Petit Vedot grapes are sourced from 19-year-old vines grown around the village of Cessaras.
The limestone pebbles in the vineyards give the brand name: in the local language, “Coudoul” is a pebble, the suffix “et” means small.
The grapes are destemmed at harvest and undergo traditional vinification with ageing in stainless steel vats for 6 months.
Tasting Notes: Deep dark opaque colour. The nose is powerful – spices and liquorice with some lifted floral notes of violets; its mellow character points towards the smooth palate to come. A fleshy, medium weight mouthfeel with hints of coffee and chocolate; rounded, integrated tannins are present thanks to the ripe dark fruits, then a spicy finish.
Food pairing suggestions: The tannic richness of Petit Verdot makes it a very structured wine that goes well with apple and black pudding, or simply a grilled steak. It also works with the acidity of the tomato for lasagna, a chakchouka, an osso bucco.
