Description
Full bodied and very well balanced between a fruity bouquet and vanilla flavours resulting from its 12 months in both American and French oak barrels. It has a soft and very smooth finish.
Typically Riojan blend of 90% Tempranillo, 5% Mazuelo and 5% Graciano – same proportions as Tondeluna but a different use of oak to give more complexity. Aromas of black cherry and dark fruits, toasty notes from the wood and secondary sensations from the malolactic fermentation.
Fermented in stainless steel and then aged in oak barriques for twelve months and a further two years in bottle thereafter, this is a stunning Rioja. It manages to maintain freshness of fruit whilst showing some of the strawberry-vanilla style that comes from the oak influence.
Vallemayor has been the principal Rioja agency for decades. They combine modern technology and traditional knowledge for the elaboration of their wines. American and French oak 225 ltr casks for the ageing are replaced when they’re six years old, assuring the best quality for the wines.
