Description
With a mission is to re-establish indigenous varieties and figure out ways to unlock their idiosyncrasies, Biruco includes the almost extinct Alacanon – a late-ripening grape that produces light, fresh, and aromatic wines. It comprises 32% Alcañon and 68% Macabeo; vinified for 4 months in concrete tanks.
Relishing the challenge to learn about rare grapes in their vineyards and then embark on a quest to create something special, local varieties that are only found in Somontano are enhanced by progressive farming and sympathetic winemaking. It’s everything that’s exciting about modern wine from traditional vines.
Limited production of 9,000 bottles
Tasting Notes: Citrus peel, green herbs and ripe stone fruit, with subtle spice and a distinctly mineral character. Textural and aromatic, with plenty of freshness and a savoury edge.
