Chianti Classico is a wine very expressive of its region and roots, the result of centuries of tradition.
Tenuta Cappellina’s work in the vineyards and careful selection results in softer, easier drinking wines, more suited to the current consumer taste. The blend for the exceptional 2019 could not be more traditional – 95% Sangiovese with 5% of the native variety Canaiolo giving it the perfect fresh element. It has 18-24 months in Slavonian oak casks – often used in Piedmonte as the wood’s tight grain and large barrel size imparts lower oak aromatics, more subtle flavours and softer tannins.
Wines are made without the addition of any chemicals, including preservatives, dyes or sugar. There is minimum use of sulphites.
Tasting Notes: An open bouquet and balanced, smooth yet complex wine with concentrated fruit and a silky long finish with understated oak charter and integrated tannins.
Food pairing suggestions: Ideal to accompany traditional dishes of Tuscan and Italian cuisine, such as pasta with ragù, roast and grilled meats, mature cheeses.
